Last year during my last month living in Anchorage the Aurora Borealis was out. I drove up a mountain to get pictures but could not see anything but a funky cloud. I got a picture and it was clearly green. I figure maybe it was light pollution or something (everyone else said they're green).

So I'm in Alaska again and have a long layover in Fairbanks. Drove to the middle of no where to get away from city lights. Can actually see stars, beautiful night. All of a sudden a huge cloud appeared across the sky. Got the tripod ready and took pictures...yep, they're green.

Used to be a dream to see these things but I don't think they're too special since I can't see the colors

I haven't had a journal entry in a bit so I figure as my toes are defrosting that it's a good time I'll get pictures online after the trip ... so next week sometime.
